sunday, i headed down to the paseo to photograph the family of a good friend. i'm not afraid to admit that these types of sessions are just a bit out of my comfort zone. i had to look back to see if i had actually shot a group of adult siblings, and i had - once before. my average client usually still has a curfew, was born after i graduated from high school and quite possibly may still need help tying his or her shoes. so this session was different. but different is okay. i loved shooting these folks. i know i say it all the time but it is true every single time i say it! they were so fun, had me cracking up the whole session. it was really interesting for me to see how they interact with each other now that they are all grown up. i feel blessed to have been able to capture just a few aspects of that relationships. i feel even more blessed to have met them. and that one chick - the one with the white hair - she just may have left an impression on my heart. dang. i love my job!

this idea has been tossed around since earlier this year. i'm so excited to finally see it take form. we have some new gear here in the shop. well, my office. they are very cute bracelets (if i may say so myself) that i am on the verge of being in love with. the message is one thats very personal to me as well as a total reflection of what i see withunmind photography being all about. these thick creme colored bracelets read : withunmind : on one side and : do u be u : on the other. for me it doesnt get much realer or simpler than that. DO YOU. BE YOU. dont fake it. dont pretend. dont try to be who or what you're not. you shouldnt even want to be something youre not. be who you are. follow UR heart. express URSELF. UR style. and dont do it halfheartedly either. if youre gonna do it, be real about it. commit to it. go after it. in the grand scheme of things life is so short. time is very very precious. dont waste it. dont take it for granted. dont let it slip by being unhappy not chasing the things U want. i guarantee you that no one can be a better you than you! we dont need 20 of her and 12 of him - we need you! okay i may have started rambling a bit there, but you get my point right??? it is after 1 am and i have had two failed nap attempts today. i am a little sleep deprived and very hungry. lol. what that has to do with anything i'm not altogether sure. but hey. it is what it is. i am who i am. i could apologize for it but youve probably already fallen asleep by now! okay i'm done talkin - here's the bracelets.

i like caleb!! i really do! i like his mama too! when i met her yesterday i felt like we were just getting together again, not just meeting for the first time! i immediately knew that i liked kaleb when he answered my first question (so, are you ready for this shoot) with - "not really". gotta love that honesty. he did good tho (as you will see). i think he may have warmed my heart just a tad when he didnt want to change in to his "church clothes". i feel you kaleb. hey, i wear jeans to church. lol. ok enough of my rambling.

this image above may just possibly be my favorite one from the session. its pulls MY heartstrings. i think it tells a story all on its own. mama bird watching her son about to leave the nest to find his own little spot in the world, using the skills she's helped him learn thus far.

on a lighter note, this also says to me, dont come with your senior child to a session and not expect for me to drag you in to at least one picture! its a moment i usually cant pass up on capturing so make sure you come ready!!

i photographed the jones family back this summer. bristal, now 2, was a little slow to warm to me but she was holding my hand by the end of the session. i think she may have even let me hold her. i could be making that up but i'd like to think so. anyways, fast forward 6 months and we're doing a little session for christmas cards. some things just dont go well together when trying to photograph children. cold weather (though it wasnt as cold as it had been). wet weather. sleepiness. strange woman with afro that the kids dont know/dont remember. to fix the last thing on my list i think i'm going to start shooting at least one picture of me AND the child if they are under say, 5 or 6. that way, when it comes time for the next session, i can whip out the photo and say - heeey you remember me! here we are having fun! we'll see if it works or not. bristal was giving my high 5's by the end of the shoot but i think she couldve cared less about me when we started out. thats ok, cause i dont hold it against her. i still think you're really cool bristal and really really cute!!

my first confession. i am really not much good at anything that requires regular maintenance, like say, a blog for instance. i try to keep up but it just never happens. i am somewhat proud of myself in that i have done much much better this year than in years in the past. i actually have a personal blog that gets NO updates (poor blog). ive been thinking about combining the two in to one. we'll see. anyways. looking back through my folder of recent sessions and back to what ive posted here, i have a few sessions to catch up on. between working and family and more family and a little bit of sleep then a bit more work - its been a tad busy around here. ok i'm about to get to posting. i cant hardly make a post without an image, sooooooo.....this is from a trip to dallas in october where i photographed a maternity session for a very blessed friend!

these are what my mama would call good people! some people you meet and can instantly get a feel for them - i liked this family right off the bat. little dude was a bit rowdy but i think that is normal for boys which we know i have no experience with. i actually came across one image from the session where brother and sister are holding hands - i may have said awwww out loud!!

i'm sure ive said this before. i always feel like i repeat myself on this blog. i guess i could lie just to say something different. the truth is so much better tho and so much easier to remember. lol. i LOVE being able to shoot my friends. i love that they trust ME to capture their families. i think when i first met them, will who is now 7 wasnt quite two yet. we actually met through our daughters who are friends - we hit it off and i'm so glad to be able to call amy a friend now!! i started to apologize for the post being so picture heavy, but then again, that would be a like. i'm really not sorry. i always have a harder time narrowing down images when it comes to folks i actually know.

spent some time in the paseo district this past weekend shooting sister and brother seniors. my husband is constantly saying how small of a world this is. i knew when we booked the session that the grandmother was related to friends of ours. after booking a session i found out that my daughter and the sister from this session are friends and have a class together. definitely a small world.

i cant believe that i'm just getting around to sharing this! this past may i was extremely honored to be able to capture the birth of baby preston! to photograph a birth has been on my photography bucket list for a while now. it feels so good to be able to have accomplished it and take it off the list. enough about me though. prestons mom was AMAZING. she chose to do a natural, home delivery. it actually ended up being a water birth. she was determined to do it AND SHE DID!!

school's back in session for my children and i find myself trying to settle in to a consistent routine to effective balance my time during the day between the one child still at home, work and house things. so far, 4 days in to the new school year, so good. before this blog was started, i had a personal blog which lately ive really started to miss. i'm seriously considering combining the two...its all me, so why split it up right? plus sometimes my focus cant stretch that far, lol, and one of the other will end up being neglected. so, if you stop back by and see a bald headed but very cute little girl, half naked, with chocolate all over her face, dont be afraid - that'd be my baby girl! i'll leave you today with a few images from a session i did for my big brother and his family.

this year has gone by WAY too fast for me. it seems like i was JUST shooting 2011 seniors and now the first wave of 2012 seniors are coming in! i had a session with gereamy and his family awhile back - then it seemed like he wasnt too happy to be in front of the camera. this day though, i thought he was a total natural. we got in there, had fun and got it done. completely painless. do you hear that guys out there - it was completely painless!!

i would apologize for the picture heavy post - but i just cant. i started out trying to choose just two or three images for this sneak peek but it was just too hard. besides, i didnt feel like it! lol. okay thats not totally true because i wouldve showed them ALL but i did narrow it down to these - so i did good, right?? anyways back to the bryan family. the first time we met up - out of nowhere (as is typical for oklahoma) a storm came so we had to reschedule. ffw - bryan family shoot take two. i couldnt have asked for better conditions - as hot as oklahoma has been it wasnt unbearably hot. there was a slight breeze happening, the light was beautiful and the people were so so fun! i loved to be able to capture some of the natural interactions between this young family - it did my heart good!!

change is not always bad. often times change can be a really good thing. i'm not the most accepting person to change. i can be resistant to it at times. as i grow though, ive realized that change can reflect just that - growth. with that little bit of deep conversation out the way - ive said all of that to say that we are making a few changes to our logo. its updated. more modern. more fresh. very simple and very clean - the way i like it. i have to say that i'm really feelin it :) its been sitting on my computer for a little bit more than a few months now (thats where my resistance to change comes in). it has poked its head out here and there from time to time. i love it so much though that i'm ready to just make the jump over to it. without further ado (actually you've already seen it since its above this post, lol) - withunmind photography and design logo : revised.

today we are launching our new pricing as well as our new pricing structure. above you will see the new price guide. the session fee has increased to $75.00 per session (not per person). as we were setting up the new pricing structure we wanted to have a way to make even the collections more customizable. to achieve this, the classic and modern collection now contain your choice of gift prints. a gift print is a set of 8 wallets, a 5x7 or an 8x10. so, in the classic collection, for example, you would choose your choice of any combination of gift prints. say you need, just 1 8x10 and 1 5x7 but 6 sets of wallets. that doable. or, say you'd like all 8 gift prints as 8x10s. thats doable as well! what ever combination fits the needs that you have. we are really excited about the new flexibility that this will allow. each collection now comes with an accordion mini album. these are roughly 2x3in, hard covered, accordion style albums that hold up to 10 images. these will be great to keep in your purse or briefcase to show off the images from your session or even to give away as gifts. this specialty item will not be for sale individually. the modern collection includes a 5x7, hard cover spiral bound book with your choice of your favorite 20 images from the session. both the modern and artistic collections include a float wrap. i cant really do float wraps justice with words. they are beautiful and they come ready to hang - no framing needed. float wraps are a modern and much more affordable spin on the conventional canvas print or gallery wrap. in the upcoming weeks, look out for picture heavy posts showcasing each of these items in much more detail. i think that just about covers it! i'm headed back to enjoy the last few days of my mini vacation. as always, if you have any questions, please feel free to email us at info@withunmindphotography.com or call us at 405.503.4124

this is what happens when you neglect your blog for more than a week or two. you're up - or should i say STILL up - at 5am posting sneak peeks, making announcements, going slightly delirious. please please please forgive any grammatical errors, fragmented sentences, or any grouping of words that just plain dont make sense, lol. i love spell check but unfortunately it just checks spelling! well, summer is here for us! my children are out of school! i am extremely proud of them! as we start our summer off i will be talking a little break to enjoy a bit of quality (and quantity) time with them. my children are nothing like i remember me and my siblings being growing up. you would think that my husband and i were one of the kids. they are constantly wanting to play with us, color with us just DO AND BE with us. i'm not gonna complain about that and will try to take full advantage of it while i can because i'm sure one day it will no longer be the case!! with that said, i will be "out of the office" from monday, may 23rd through friday june 3rd. my new assistant (read a post or two down) will be able to answer any questions you have, schedule a session for you and possibly even beat you in a game of words with friends! feel free to email her at info@withunmindphotography.com . because its just plain rude to make a post and not include a picture (i'm sorry, i know i just did it one post below :( forgive me! ) here is a picture of my newly bald 2 year old. dont ask what happened - i'm finally coming to terms with it and am embracing her cute baldness!!

new pricing : heads up

starting june 1st we will be implementing a new price list. with the new price list we will also be introducing a several new products. i hope to highlight some of these in their own individual posts throughout the month of june. i'd like to take a minute to note just a few of the changes. first, our session fee will be increasing to $75. secondly, collections that contain gift sized prints will be completely customizable by you! i'm really excited about this option. for example, instead of a collection that offers 1 8x10, 2 5x7's and 2 sets of wallets - that collection would now offer 7 gift prints. you'll choose whatever combination fits your needs for those 7 prints. you may want all wallets or say 3 8x10's, only 1 5x7 and 2 sets of wallets. the choice is yours. thirdly, all prints 11x14 and larger will now come mounted on styrene. a big advantage of having images mounted is that it helps to prevent accidental damage to your pictures. the styrene is thick enough that it creates a sturdy surface for the image that can actually be displayed without framing if you wish, but it is still thin enough to fit inside a frame without any special altering. if you've ever ordered a storyboard, it was likely to have come mounted on styrene - this is the same type of mounting we will be using. lastly, if you book a session for june or july before june 1st, you can have the current prices locked in for your session. to book, you just need to call or email to set up a date and pay the session fee to hold your date. again, as long as you book before june 1st and the session is held by july 31st - current pricing is locked in! this offer can only be extended to regular portrait sessions (not events, parties, weddings, etc.). i think that just about covers it!!

after much thought and prayer - ive decided to bring in an assistant to help with some of the day to day and "behind the scenes" stuff that goes on. i will admit that it's been a little hard for me because i like to have my hand in everything and i like the one on one contact and interactions i get to have with each of you. but, to prevent me from going prematurely gray, or bald, i could use a little extra help. this comes in the form of my new assistant bianca. she's already doing a fantastic job. i trust that she will be able to take care of you guys just as i have. hey, i'd trust her with my own children! as a matter of fact, i have, many times since she's my sister! you're likely to hear from her when you schedule a session, when your gallery is ready, when you place an order or just have a question that needs answering. you can reach her directly through email at info@withunmindphotography.com . please welcome her aboard!!

part of me wants to apologize for posting so many images from one session and then the other 90% of me loves the images too much to care about feeling bad! i had to narrow down my favorites for this post, there are many many more that i love but didnt include. im pretty sure i couldve shot these two all day long. we got together for an engagement session and they are the very reason i'm beginning to fall in love with shooting couples! i think i may have had a little too much fun with them but thats ok. david was my kind of guy. he was along for the ride because it was important to his fiancee. he was up for anything she or i wanted but was also very happy to step out of the spotlight and let it all shine on thy. now thy, the girl is stunning!!! me and my camera LOVE her! dont take my word for it - the proof is in the pictures!!! i told her, she can probably quit her day job! lol

i had a lot of fun with these two. i feel like i start every post off that way - but its true. i LOVE what i do and i usually have fun at it too! in this last image, adam was sneaking a peek a chrystian - i love the whole "be still my beating heart" hand on the chest thing. i think he may have had his tongue out too. lol. they were funny! found myself constantly laughing! lol

this long awaited family session got interrupted by a cold temperamental oklahoma day. the day before was nice. the day after, nice as well. thats, oklahoma for you though, where the motto is - if you dont like the weather, just wait awhile. lol. we did manage to squeeze out just a few shots though! take two is bound to yield more images!

i had a really good time with the booze family. i have to say, i may have been a tad bit worried at first. so far, ive yet to meet a kid that i didnt like and that didnt like me at least by the end of the session! aubriel was threatening to break my streak! she wanted nothing to do with me. was giving me all kind of dirty looks ya'll. lol. we had a little talk, exchanged a little food and by the end she was letting me hold her and giving me high fives. she made me work, thats okay though because i truly love what i do! her parents are both very talented musicians. i can personally vouch for this since i made them actually play during the session not just "look" like they were playing. lol. i was very impressed! i once again leave a session feeling very blessed to capture these images for this beautiful, young family!

ahh. now this was fun! me and takisha go way back - to at least high school days. possibly middle school days but i'm gettin old and cant quite remember back that far. she's good people ya'll! i truly enjoyed capturing these images for her in celebration of her obtaining her masters in human relations from ou. proud of you ma'am!!

brittany came in last friday and shut it down in less than an hour. possibly the quickest senior session i ever shot even with 3 clothing changes! she knew what she was doing though! we pulled out some beautiful images of this beautiful young girl! i LOVED her freshness and her honesty!

for some reason i have a thing for putting children in the middle of the street. i mean i put newborns in drawers and on bookshelves so it shouldnt be too surprising that i'll endanger the life of a senior by asking her to sit in the middle of main street while holding a priceless piece of art that took her months to create, right?? i havent lost a child yet. i mean there was that one time that, uh, well, uhm - lets say what happens at our sessions stays at the session! (plus i delivered the kid back home with all body parts still intact!). i loved hanging out with samara to capture these images for her senior session. we started at pinkitzel then traveled a little further into bricktown. it was kinda chilly out but this girl rocked it! the proof is in the pictures!!

before we kicked off our mini sessions last weekend i took my family out for a session. a collaboration between withunmind photography and kreative koncepts. this has to be one of my favorites from our session. we are missing one though - the baby decided this scene wasnt for her and took off down the block. ive already ordered this one as a 16x20 float wrap! cant wait to get it and hang it up! i'll come back and post pictures too!

every valentines day my kids come home from school with it least 3 or 4 of the same kind of cards in their stash. this has inspired our first mini session of the new year! i got tired of them picking out that "perfect" card just for it to be someone else's perfect card. we no longer buy valentine cards in our house and its absolutely guaranteed that no one else will have the same card as them. besides that, my kids love passing out cards with their favorite picture on them!

don’t think that this is just for the kiddies. heck, you’ll be the coolest kid at work passing out valentine's day cards with your beautiful face on them! this is perfect for couples, families or even single folks who just feel like being fabulous!

from your 20 minute mini session you'll receive (1) 8x10 , (2) 5x7 (gotta have something to give to grandma), and either (25) valentine cards or a 10x20 storyboard.

i typically add a little commentary BELOW my images. i think this post needs a warning/disclaimer/what have you though. lol. this post will be VERY picture heavy! today i wrapped up my last session of the year. we're ended on a very special and sentimental note. i'm introducing one hot mama :) . my big sister, bianca. i wanted to get her in front of my camera. she came willingly and ready with no arm twisting. she recently reached her weight loss goal that she set earlier this year. i'm so so proud of all of the hard work she has done!

these people made me nearly freeze my little fingers off during out session! it was COLD! im very hot natured, rarely wear a coat, am usually turning the heat down instead of up - but i was COLD! lol. though ive still yet to get some of the feeling back in my right hand, it was very worth it. loved spending time with this family and capturing just a little bit of what makes them them!

i had the honor of spending my morning with miss ava grace and her family! the girl had enough clothes and shoes to clothe all the babies in the metro. lol. not really, but she had A LOT of cute stuff. mom let me just have at it and i was like a kid in the candy store. thanks jamie! dad fed me and grandma encouraged me to shop. lol. i love that i can book a session with complete strangers and walk out at the end of the shoot feeling like i'm leaving friends! loved this entire family - esp that ava grace!!!

this little girl did absolutely nothing to help the baby fever i'm currently having. i think she actually made it a bit worse! i spent some time this morning with her and her entire family (hi mom and dad, miss olivia, uncle, auntie, grandma and papa!). though she was sleep when i first arrived she was definitely ready for her close up! did i mention that i'm having baby fever?? can you tell?? out of the entire family session i post a picture of the baby! lol. i'm actually supposed to be in bed, the hubby is waiting! as i sat down though to prep these for the initial "go through" this image just grabbed me and pulled me in! hopefully the hubby will understand why i had to stop just for a few minutes and share it with you all!
