 since i've started shooting the models for the event, you've seen little sneak peeks of them. most of the models spent a little time on video talking about their natural hair journey, their routine and just what being natural means to them. now its your turn :

yep. its time to turn the camera on YOU! submit a video, 2 minutes or less, and tell us what being natural means to YOU!

you dont have to have natural hair to enter this contest because we all know that being natural is about way more than just your hair! dont get me breaking in to "i am not my hair" by india arie, lol.  this contest is local but open to everyone  - curly, kinky, nappy, fro, straight, guys, girls, red, yellow, black or white!!

so, use ur cell phone, your camera, your web cam - whatever you have readily available to you and let us hear your thoughts about being natural.

myself along with my team of judges (who you will meet along the way - the first one being miss regina in the video up above) will pick our 3 favorites to reward!

we're rolling the red carpet out for the first place winner. hair done. make up done. rollin up to the set lookin extra fly! (i try to be cool but really i'm just a geek at heart and i'm PERFECTLY ok with that give me apple over gucci any day!) you'll have a full photo shoot. few outfit changes. after that is all said and done and you recover (and i recover) you'll receive a music video style slideshow and a disk containing the high resolution edited images from your session. all in all a $800 value.

our 2nd place winner will receive an extended mini session (45 minutes), a music video style slideshow and  a $250 print credit to purchase images from their session! $350 value

3rd place will receive a mini session (30 minutes),  a music video style slideshow and a $125 print credt to purchase images from their session! $225 value

everyone that enters will receive voucher good for 50% the normal $75 session fee when booking a shoot.

the naturally u exhibit is right around the corner!! 11 days away to be exact!! i'm soooooo excited! i cant wait to see  all at the show and for you to see images of the models in all their fabulous naturalness! shuroya wideman of "secrets of beauty hair salon" will be on hand to answer all your natural hair care questions as well as exhibit different hairstyles for different hair types. the owner of "go natural / the healthy hair and skin cafe" will be doing live consultations attendees to help make personal product recommendations to you! nycole parker of "naturally unique locks" will be able  to address your sister lock questions while preforming a sister locks re tightening. sharrell moore from "i want somethin' sweet" will have a little something for you to put in your belly and takisha lovelace with "herbalife" will be sharing some delicious healthy and energizing tea! oh, and we're be giving stuff away too!! lots of stuff! see you next saturday!!!

celebrating 20 years of marriage : oklahoma city photographer

a week ago i had the honor of photographing and celebrating with a dear friend of mine as she celebrated 20 years of marriage. the ceremony was beautiful. the venue was beautiful. the original vows were beautiful. as you can see, the couple was beautiful!! congratulations lee and sheila! more images to come!!

soooo.....i have this little love affair with natural hair and hairstyles. its pretty bad. actually its really bad. as a little therapy and inspiration i've decided to seek out and photograph a few (okay about 20) beautiful individuals in all of their kinky, curly, fro-ey beauty and title this project :naturally u: at the end of the summer, september 15th to be exact, from 2 -4pm at the mwc library we will be having a gallery exhibit showcasing the images from each of these sessions! please come join us to celebrate the beauty that is natural hair and be inspired by all that it does! take a minute or two to watch the video and get just a taste of what is to come!!

miss piper : oklahoma city children photographer

i have just a LITTLE thing for red heads. i dont even seek them out they seem to find me! lol. miss piper came to spend the night for my daughters sleepover. the first night i resisted the urge of putting the camera all up in her face. then, i slept and it was a new day and decided to just give in. i asked her first, "oh hey piper, you wanna take some pics??" she was excited said yes and so we went to the front yard and shot for a few minutes. she even gave me all moody - just what i like!! ahhhhhh......
